Before You Book Beauty in Seoul: The Questions Visitors Actually Ask, and the English Messages That Get Answers
Twelve questions cover most of what visitors ask before booking a Korean salon or clinic. Every template below fits in one message, names one service, and asks for one thing back — a time, a total, or a confirmation. A message shaped that way can be answered in a single reply, by someone between clients, in a second language. An open-ended one cannot. The twelve questions, answered briefly
- Do I need a Korean phone number? No — booking forms take your own number with a country code, and the field is optional; salons take WhatsApp and Instagram. Detail: the phone-number guide.
- Will they speak English? The booking can be in English; the chair or consultation depends on the venue, so ask who you will speak English with. Levels explained.
- Is a deposit normal? At some salons and spas, yes; at most clinic consultations, no. The listing or the venue states it. Never pay to a personal account.
- Can I bring a friend? To a salon or spa, usually; to a clinic consultation, one companion is generally fine — ask, and for two people being treated, book two.
- How far ahead? Lead times are not published by the venues, so as a starting assumption: a clinic consultation before you fly, a head spa or colour session a few days ahead, a cut a day or two ahead. - What does a confirmation look like? Date, time, branch, your passport name, repeated back — a friendly “yes, come anytime” is an invitation to walk in, not a booking.
- What if I am late? Message the venue the moment you know. Clinics stop registering before closing time. Walk-in and registration rules.
- Can I cancel? Per the venue’s terms on the listing. Ask before you pay a deposit.
- Is the listed price what I pay? For salon services at the listed tier and length, usually. pe-it in Seongsu publishes the same cut at three stylist tiers, ₩35,000 for a junior stylist up to ₩60,000 for the director (checked 16 September 2026). For clinics it is a starting or unit price, quoted per shot or per area: GU Clinic Gangnam Branch lists Ultherapy Prime at ₩1,590,000 for 300 shots, so the number of shots is the number to agree. - What should I send a clinic before a consultation? Concern, two photos, medications, history, reactions. The list.
- Do I need cash? Cards are widely taken; ask about card surcharges. Tipping is not expected.

How to read the reply
A reply that repeats your date, time and name is a booking. A reply that says “please come” without a time is not. A reply that quotes a price before anyone has seen your skin or hair is a starting quote. If you get an auto-reply, wait for a person.
If the reply does not contain the one thing you asked for — the time, the total, the language — send the same question again rather than a new one. A new question on top of the unanswered one gives the person on the other end two things to answer in a second language, and that is what turns a booking into a thread.
