The price on a Seoul salon listing is the base service, at the lowest stylist tier, for short-to-medium hair. What you pay depends on your own length, your colour history and which stylist you book, so bring three photos, know your length in centimetres, and agree the total before the cape goes on. Before you go

• Three photos: the style you want, front and side, on someone with hair like yours if possible; and one of your hair now.
• Your numbers: current length (cm), how many centimetres to cut, when you last coloured or bleached and with what.
• Your hair’s history: box dye, keratin, previous perms. Korean perms and colours react to what is already on the hair.
• Arrive with clean, dry hair unless told otherwise, and with time: a cut runs 60–90 minutes, colour or a perm two to four hours.

The consultation

A Seoul salon starts with a consultation, and it often runs longer than visitors expect — the stylist will ask about your daily styling, your face shape and your hair’s condition. If English is thin, photos and numbers carry it. Point, then confirm — “Two centimetres off, keep the length at the shoulder, layers only at the front.” Useful words: 컷 (cut), 펌 (perm), 염색 (colour), 탈색 (bleach), 뿌리 (roots), 층 (layers), 앞머리 (fringe / bangs), 숱 치기 (thinning out).

Agree the total before the cape

Length, bleach rounds, stylist tier and treatments all add to the listed figure. Say: “Could you confirm the total for my hair before we start?” and wait for a number. A salon that answers with a range is being honest about bleach. A salon that will not answer is one to leave.

The published number and the number you pay line up differently at each salon. The four listings below were checked on 16 September 2026 on K-Beauty Station, which publishes these prices on the page rather than after an enquiry.

No two of the four publish in the same shape: three tiers, one flat figure, a bundled card and a whole-salon band. None of them is quoting your head until someone has seen it.

At the sink

The shampoo includes a scalp massage of several minutes. That is standard, not an upsell. The upsell comes next: a mask or scalp serum offered at the sink, at extra cost. “No, thank you” is a complete answer. If you want the treatment, ask the price first.

During and after

Stylists at larger salons hand off between assistant and designer; that is normal. You will be offered a drink. At the end, styling and a blow-dry are included in a cut. Photos are welcome; ask before photographing staff.

Checkout

Card is fine almost everywhere; ask about a card surcharge if quoted a cash price. No tipping. Ask for a receipt if you want a record of what was used for your next salon at home, and if the total differs from what was agreed, ask which line changed — usually a bleach round or a length surcharge — before paying.

Curls, coily hair, bleach and idol styles

Whether a stylist can do your hair is a matter of experience, not nationality, so ask for recent work photos on hair like yours in the salon’s messenger before booking. It is a normal question.

Getting the appointment in the first place

Everything above happens after a time is agreed. The salon’s own page on K-Beauty Station puts the price on the page, and its booking form takes your own phone number with a country-code selector. Instagram DM lets you attach the three photos straight away. Naver Reservation will ask you to verify with your passport. Lead times are not something the salons publish. As a starting assumption, book a cut one to three days ahead, and a director-tier stylist further ahead, then ask the salon’s messenger for the next available date and work from its answer rather than from ours.
